Swimming Pools
Somerset has 5 swimming pools for your summertime enjoyment. They are opened on Memorial Day and remain open until Labor Day. You will find the pool rules prominently displayed at all times.
There are 2 pools specifically designated as “children’s pools.” These are located at the Activities Center on Somerset Boulevard, and at the Somerset Community House on the corner of Dorchester and Somerset.
Guests are also permitted as long as you are accompanying them. Please don’t forget to bring you Somerset key tag, which you can pick up at wither the leasing or administration offices.
Pool Hours: 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
Tennis Courts
There are 8 tennis courts located near the Somerset Activities Center. They are for your use free of charge. We have a Tennis Pro on the premises. Please call to reserve your court time. The phone number for the Tennis Courts is 649-3360.
Community Houses
We have 2 community houses that may be rented for parties, meetings, group activities, etc. Each has a small kitchen and we provide tables and chairs. They are located at:
- The Somerset Community House – At the corner of Dorchester and Somerset Boulevard
- The Activities Center at 2501 Somerset Boulevard
Arrangements for renting the community houses may be made with the Leasing Center located at 1911 Golfview Drive. The phone number is 643-6644.
Golf Course
A 9 hole, par 3 golf course awaits your challenge! To obtain a tee time, call the Pro Shop. If you area very avid golfer, you might want to inquire about the yearly membership. The phone number for the Pro Shop is 643-8737.
Health Club
We have exercise machines, showers, and a locker room. We have a 2.5 mile sidewalk path, cross-country skiing trail, half basketball court and sand volleyball court. Please call the Administration Office at 643-6560 for details.
Children’s Playground and Picnic Area You’ll find our convenient park and picnic grounds just to your liking. Feel free to take the children for an afternoon in the park, or plan a family picnic. Hibachi grills and picnic tables are provided, as well as playground equipment for children.
Commuter Van
Somerset Park Apartments offers you the convenience of a shuttle van for transportation in and around the Birmingham-Troy area. We encourage you to use the van for an occasional trip, or regularly to the number of locations listed below. You can board the van each hour, on the hour, in front of your building, leasing office, or administration office. The van stops at these locations outside Somerset Park:
- Downtown Birmingham (in front of the Birmingham theater)
- Somerset Collection
- Somerset Plaza
- Meijer Thrifty Acres
- Troy Library
- Senior Citizens Community Center
- Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital
- Target at Midtown Plaza
- Walmart at Cambridge Crossings

Softball Field Play ball…whenever you can get a team together! The softball field can be found on the east side of the tennis courts. To reserve the softball field, please call the Administration Office at 643-6560 for details.
